Best Spanish Shows on Netflix

Love to watch shows on Netflix? Are you learning Spanish and hoping to find the perfect show for you? Nowadays Netflix is without a doubt one of the most popular and accessible platforms for one of our favorite pastimes (including binge watching!). Whether comedy or drama, when it comes to Spanish TV, Netflix has you covered.

We have selected five Spanish shows that reflect the cultural diversity, variety of topics, and scope of entertainment found on Spanish TV, those that will not only be entertaining but also give you some added motivation to learn—or continue to learn—the language. The shows are not listed in any particular order, so feel free to choose what interests you the most to start!

1. Club de Cuervos

Club de Cuervos, also known as Club of Crows, is a Mexican comedy-drama web series based in the fictional city of Nuevo Toledo, Mexico. It premiered on August 7th, 2015 and is actually the first Spanish-language Netflix original series. It’s a story about two siblings who compete with each other to decide who can inherit and direct the football team, Cuervos FC, after the death of its former owner: their father. Plenty of fights, gossip, and disputes take place between the brother and sister.

2. Paquitas Salas

Paquita Salas is a Spanish comedy web television series in the style of The Office. It’s a story about Paquita Salas, a talent agent who always relies on luck, wit, and charm to make things happen. One day, her most famous client abandons her, a change that puts her and her firm in jeopardy. She has to figure out a way to keep the business going with her loyal assistant Magüi. Will they be able to find the right talent and stay afloat?

3. Las Chicas del Cable

Las chicas del cable (Cable Girls, in English) is a drama series focused on the challenges working women faced in the 1920s. In 1928, a telecommunications company starts operating in Madrid. Four women start working there as switchboard operators. Their lives are soon intertwined.

4. Narcos

Narcos is a series centered on the fight against drug trafficking in Colombia during the 1990s. The series is based on the story of drug lord Pablo Escobar, who became a billionaire by producing and distributing cocaine. Along the way, Escobar has to interact with other drug lords, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents, and other enemies on his opposing side.

5. La Casa de Papel

La casa de papel (Money Heist, in English) begins with the robbery of the real-life Spanish museum Royal Mint of Spain. This is planned by the Professor with a perfect execution of the robbers in Tokyo, Nairobi, Río, Moscow, Berlin, Denver, Helsinki, and Oslo. They lock themselves in the museum and try to win the favor of public opinion in order to escape. But they are not alone in it. There are hostages, museum employees, as well as students from the British school, who were on a visit. Can their plan be successful?
